The date is significant as is the location… GB declared war on Germany at 11pm on August 4th and Montrose was the site of the first operational military airfield in Great Britain from early 1913 the 2nd. Squadron RFC was stationed there – in August 1914 the Squadron was moved to France. The stamp accompanied by 2014 London Philatelist article and three related Post Cards. Historical item. Ex. Higson.
